Forms

Forms are used within CommonSpot for the following purposes:

• Creating and editing metadata associated with CommonSpot pages, documents, and images. For detailed information on creating and managing metadata forms, see Creating Custom Metadata Forms in the CommonSpot Administrator's Reference.
• Creating and editing Custom Element data. For detailed information on creating and managing metadata forms, refer to the sections on Custom Elements in the CommonSpot Administrator's Reference and the Elements Reference.
• Simple Form Elements on CommonSpot pages. For details, see the description of the Simple Form Element in the CommonSpot Elements Reference. CommonSpot provides tools for making forms more accessible to disabled users. See also Developing Accessible Content in CommonSpot in the CommonSpot Administrator's Reference.

All three types of forms are built from the same collection of field types. Most of these field types (text fields, checkboxes, selection lists, etc.) are familiar to internet users and require no further explanation. The purpose of this chapter is to describe how the more advanced fields are rendered on forms, how their controls are used to enter data, and how the data entered in forms is validated.
